Texas Indigent Defense Commission (TIDC)


Grants and Reporting Committee members

The Committee shall:

  1. Review all grant programs and funding strategies to ensure alignment with legislative directives, agency strategic goals and rules.
  2. Monitor the impact of formula and discretionary grants programs. Consider the impact and usefulness of the 2001 baseline on current funding.
  3. Simplify and standardize processes for counties to replicate model programs previously funded.
  4. Review statewide reporting processes and the Indigent Defense Expense Report. Examine current uses of the data and determine if changes are needed to data collection.
  5. Review fiscal monitoring processes and procedures.

The Committee shall:

  1. Review and revise as necessary promulgated policies, standards, model forms and procedures as enumerated in Section 79.034, Government Code.
  2. Develop and consider for adoption minimum standards for managed assigned counsel programs.
  3. Develop procedures to assist judges in assessing and recouping attorney’s fees in appropriate cases pursuant to Article 26.05, Code of Criminal Procedure.
  4. Review policy monitoring processes and procedures.
  5. Provide oversight to staff regarding the innocence project contracts with the four public law schools.
