Requests for assistance based on a claim of innocence should be directed to one of the four public law school innocence projects:
- The Texas Center for Actual Innocence at the University of Texas School Of Law
- The Innocence Project of Texas, which works with The Texas Tech University School of Law
- The University of Houston Law Center Innocence Project
- The Thurgood Marshall School of Law Innocence Project at Texas Southern University
The participating innocence projects have developed a standard case questionnaire which should be filled out completely and included with a request for assistance. This case questionnaire is also published in the Texas Offender Legal Handbook.
In addition to the four Texas public law school innocence programs, several other innocence projects operate in the state and may be able to provide assistance. For a directory of innocence projects, see the Innocence Network.
