Domestic Violence Resource Attorney
Kim Piechowiak is the Domestic Violence Resource Attorney (DVRA) for the judiciary in the State of Texas. An attorney experienced in domestic violence issues, she is employed by OCA to provide courts with information and technical assistance on issues related to domestic violence cases. As OCA's DVRA, her goal is to provide the Texas judiciary with the resources needed to fairly and effectively handle the challenges of domestic violence cases.
The position was created with funding from the STOP Violence Against Women Act Formula Grant Program through the Governor's Criminal Justice Division.
How the DVRA services will help your court
Your court may contact the DVRA for:
- technical assistance to judges and court personnel;
- resources and references on legal and policy issues related to domestic violence;
- training for judges and court personnel;
- assistance in the creation or improvement of specialized domestic violence courts or dockets; and
- information on grant opportunities for courts handling domestic violence cases.
The services of the DVRA are provided at no cost by the Office of Court Administration.
